Hello, I'm Stephen Ware. I've been teaching Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) since the 1990s. I've written broadly and deeply on many aspects of ADR. which includes arbitration, mediation, settlement negotiation, and more.

Available in print and free through West Academic Study Aids is my 635 page book on the law and practice of ADR: Principles of Alternative Dispute Resolution (4th ed. 2023). My many law review articles on ADR are available here, and I sporadically blog about ADR and Arbitration.

KU Law’s Course Description for Law 860, Alternative Dispute Resolution, is:

This course introduces the student to arbitration, mediation, negotiation, and other methods for resolving disputes.  In addition to serving as alternatives to the court system, these processes also play an increasingly important role in litigation and settlement.  This is a survey course, which may include exercises to develop skills such as interviewing, counseling, and negotiation.
